Currently-Reading Friday! - (16/2/2018) Hey! In the past couple of weeks, I haven't been uploading these posts. Part of this was that for the majority of January I wasn't really reading much and didn't have anything to update you on. Another part was that after having school all week, by Friday I'm just so tired that I can't keep my focus long enough to do these posts. Last week, I wrote the majority of the post and meant to finish it off, but just forgot about finishing and uploading it, so I ended up just binning it. I'm back this week though! It is currently Saturday as I'm writing this, so it is late, but I just really want to write and get up a post. I've been neglecting my blog in the past week or so, but hopefully I can get back on track soon and maybe start a schedule to help me stay on track. Anyway, I'll talk about that in more detail in another post, because right now I need to tell you about my reading week. This week was the Contemporary-A-Thon and I decided I would take part, but loosely as I did have school. I was going to post a TBR, but things got on top of me and I hadn't really planned a book for each challenge because I knew I wouldn't complete them all. I just sort of used the books I was currently reading and tried to match them to as many challenges as I could. Due to me taking part in the readathon, I was hoping to read more, but I just ended up sorting of only reading one or two books, but I'll tell you about them now. Carry on reading! Finished Reading (Since 9/2/2018): Hetty Feather's Christmas by Jacqueline Wilson Date Started - 10/2/2018 Date Finished - 10/2/2018 Last week I finished my reread of the Hetty Feather series and finally read Little Stars for the first time. Seeing as I was still longing for more of Hetty, I decided to jump straight into this short novella. Even though it's no longer Christmas, this still made me feel quite festive. It's a short story all about a Christmas that Hetty had while at the Foundling Hospital. It also crosses over to Jacqueline Wilson's new series starting with Clover Moon. I haven't yet read Clover Moon, but after seeing glimpses of her character in this, I can't wait to pick it up and hopefully soon. Synopsis: Cosy up for Christmas with this brand-new festive story, starring everyone's favourite Victorian foundling, Hetty Feather! An unexpected gift leads to trouble for Hetty on Christmas Day at the Foundling Hospital, and the dreaded Matron Bottomly is delighted to have an excuse to exclude Hetty from the festive celebrations. Poor Hetty is distraught – but just when it seems that all is lost, a dear friend arrives to whisk her away for a Christmas unlike any other . . . Full of friendship, fun and festive cheer, this beautifully-packaged hardback is complete with stunning illustrations by Nick Sharratt and fabulous bonus material featuring fun facts about the Victorian Christmas. The perfect stocking-filler for every Jacqueline Wilson fan. (The Spinster Club #1) by Holly Bourne Date Started - 14/2/2018 Date Finished - 16/2/2018 I picked this to read for a couple of the challenges for the Contemporary-A-Thon. I've read this book before as well as the second book in the series, How Hard Can Love Be? and absolutely loved both. I was originally just going to read the third book, What's A Girl Gotta Do? for the readathon as I haven't yet read it, but I had a sudden urge to reread the first two books first and well, here we are now! Once again I absolutely loved this book. It makes me all emotional and I just love everything about it. It touches on some quite difficult topics and Holly could easily avoid these all together and write about a completely different character, but instead creates a realistic character and tackles these topics head on. Though this probably wasn't the best choice for a readathon as it is quite long, I wanted to read it so I did. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this series and cry some more. Synopsis: All Evie wants is to be normal. She’s almost off her meds and at a new college where no one knows her as the girl-who-went-crazy. She’s even going to parties and making friends. There’s only one thing left to tick off her list… But relationships are messy – especially relationships with teenage guys. They can make any girl feel like they’re going mad. And if Evie can’t even tell her new friends Amber and Lottie the truth about herself, how will she cope when she falls in love? GR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23592235-am-i-normal-yet?ac=1&from_search=true BD - https://www.bookdepository.com/Am-I-Normal-Yet-/9781409590309 Currently Reading: Wunderkids: Part 1 - Wildwood Academy by Jacqueline Silvester On Page 32 of 316 I was sent this book for review, but haven' really had a chance to get that far into it. I'm off school this week, so I'm hoping I can get a bit further with it then. Synopsis: 15-year-old Nikka is invited to attend Wildwood Academy, a prestigious but secret boarding school for talented youth located deep in the Californian mountains. Once there, Nikka quickly falls in love with her bizarre classes, the jaw-dropping scenery and... two very different boys. However, Wildwood Academy has a dark and twisted secret, one that could cost Nikka the one thing she had never imagined she could lose, the one thing that money can’t buy. It is this very thing that Wildwood Academy was created to steal. Nikka can stay and lose everything, or she can risk death and run. GR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34659493-wunderkids?ac=1&from_search=true BD - https://www.bookdepository.com/Wunderkids-Jacqueline-Silvester/9781999734602 Well that was the books I've read in the past week as well as the book I'm currently reading. This week coming up I hope to read some more of Wunderkids, start How Hard Can Love Be? by Holly Bourne before I take part in the Time Hop-A-Thon.

Currently Reading - 12/1/2018 Hey! It's Friday so that mean it's time for another currently reading update! This week I've barely picked up a book and I'm a bit annoyed about that, but I've either been doing schoolwork or I'm so tired that I can't concentrate enough to read. I haven't really made much progress, but I'll show you anyway. Carry on reading! Currently-Reading POS: Piece Of Sh*t by Pierre Paquet and Jesús Alonso Iglesias On page 42 of 256 In my last post, I included tis briefly at the bottom because I couldn't seem to find it on Goodreads, but I have now! I haven't gotten very far with this and I stopped reading it because I was getting a bit confused. I think I just need to get a bit further through it and then go from there. Synopsis: A young man struggles to build a publishing company, find love, and discover who he really is, with his one true trusted companion being the dog who truly seems to understand him. In the end, he realizes that for far too long he has been a self-absorbed piece of sh*t.nA touching autobiographical story by Swiss BD publisher Pierre Paquet, the spiritual sequel to Paquet’s Eisner-nominated A Glance Backward, which recounted his experience dealing with the death of his father at age 11. GR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36639701-pos?ac=1&from_search=true BD - https://www.bookdepository.com/POS-Pierre-Paquet-Jesus-Alonso/9781942367468 Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey On page 88 of 275 I mentioned I was reading this in my last post, but I haven't got much further. I'm enjoying it and I feel the story is finally starting to get somewhere. It's one of those books that I really have to pay attention to so I struggled to get any further through it this week as I've just been too tired. Synopsis: In this darkly riveting debut novel—a sophisticated psychological mystery that is also a heartbreakingly honest meditation on memory, identity, and aging—an elderly woman descending into dementia embarks on a desperate quest to find the best friend she believes has disappeared, and her search for the truth will go back decades and have shattering consequences. Maud, an aging grandmother, is slowly losing her memory—and her grip on everyday life. Yet she refuses to forget her best friend Elizabeth, who she is convinced is missing and in terrible danger. But no one will listen to Maud—not her frustrated daughter, Helen, not her caretakers, not the police, and especially not Elizabeth's mercurial son, Peter. Armed with handwritten notes she leaves for herself and an overwhelming feeling that Elizabeth needs her help, Maud resolves to discover the truth and save her beloved friend. This singular obsession forms a cornerstone of Maud's rapidly dissolving present. But the clues she discovers seem only to lead her deeper into her past, to another unsolved disappearance: her sister, Sukey, who vanished shortly after World War II. As vivid memories of a tragedy that occurred more than fifty years ago come flooding back, Maud discovers new momentum in her search for her friend. Could the mystery of Sukey's disappearance hold the key to finding Elizabeth? Let me know in the comments what you're currently reading and I'll see you next time! BYE! Currently Reading Update - 5/1/2018 Hey Guys! I mentioned in my 2018 goals post that went up on Wednesdays that I wanted to post a currently reading update every Friday. I used to upload these quite often, but I sort of just stopped. I posted one in Blogmas and decided that this would be a really good way to show you what I've just finished and what I'm currently reading, I guess. Let me know in the comments whether you like this sort of post and I should carry on doing them or whether they're just a bit boring. Just Finished So this week I've finished two books. I'm only going to talk briefly about them as you'll see them in reviews and a wrap-up coming soon. Fireside Tales by Enid Blyton 156 Pages Date Started - 30/12/2017 Date Finished - 1/1/2018 I couldn't find a synopsis to stick here, so we'll just have to go without. I have quite a few of this series as my mum read them when she was little and I've got her copies. I think I've read them before when I was younger, but I want to reread them when I want a bit of a break from my TBR pile. I enjoyed reading this collection of stories as it was something that I didn't have to focus too much on what was happening in 6the different plots. I'm looking forward to reading the others, though I don't know when that'll happen. GR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6389310-fireside-tales BD - Not Available How I Magically Messed Up My Life in 4 Freakin' Days by Megan O'Russell 486 Pages Date Started - 13/10/2017 Date Finished - 1/1//2018 Synopsis: Ever wanted to grow a five-story tall flower in central park? How about fight a deadly battle under the subway tunnels of Manhattan? Don't worry. I never wanted to either. But if you're ever being chased by ladies made of mist and you have to save the girl with the sparkly eyes you've never had the guts to say actual words to, there's an app for that. I found a magic cell phone, opened an app I shouldn't have, burned down the set shop for my high school's theatre, and it was all downhill from there. A drag queen seer who lives under a bridge is my only hope for keeping my mom alive, and I think the cops might be after me for destroying my dad's penthouse. But it gets better! Now I'm stuck being the sidekick to the guy who got me into this mess in the first place. It'll be a miracle if I survive until Monday. I mentioned in my last currently reading that I was struggling to get into this. Once I got about halfway, I was really into it and I ended up enjoying it. I feel the second half was so much better with both the characters and the storyline and that the first bit was just a bit slow. This was a review book that I requested so I'll have a review up soon with more of my thoughts. GR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32231955-how-i-magically-messed-up-my-life-in-four-freakin-days?ac=1&from_search=true BD - CURRENTLY UNAVALIABLE: https://www.bookdepository.com/How-I-Magically-Messed-Up-My-Life-in-Four-Freakin-Days-Megan-ORussell/9781976416293 Currently Reading Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey On page 35 of 275 Date Started - 3/1/2018 Synopsis: A mystery, an unsolved crime and one of the most unforgettable characters since Mark Haddon's Christopher. Meet Maud ... 'Elizabeth is missing' reads the note in Maud's pocket in her own handwriting, and the one on the wall. Maud's been getting forgetful. She keeps buying peach slices when she has a cupboard full, forgets to drink the cups of tea she's made and writes notes to remind herself of things. But Maud is determined to discover what has happened to her friend, Elizabeth, and what it has to do with the unsolved disappearance of her sister Sukey, years back, just after the war. A fast-paced mystery, an unforgettable voice: you will laugh and cry but you'll never forget Maud. This book has been on my shelf for well over two years now (since November 2015) and I'm finally picking it up I've said that I wanted to read the books that have been on my shelf the longest in 2018 and this is one of them. Recently I've really been in the mood to try something different, so I decided it was finally the time to pick up this mystery. I'm not very far through it at the moment, but so far it's really intriguing and I can't wait till I have some time to sit down and get a bit further into the story. GR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24179216-elizabeth-is-missing BD - https://www.bookdepository.com/Elizabeth-is-Missing/9780241968185 I've also started reading a graphic novel I requested for review, but I can't seem to find it on goodreads and I haven't picked it up this week really, so I'll update you next week.
Let me know what you're currently reading in the comments below and I'll see you soon! BYE! BLOGMAS DAY 20 : Currently-Reading (20/12/2017) Hey Guys! I was really struggling on deciding what to do for the post today as I've run out of ideas. I thought I'd do a currently reading update like I used to. The last one I did was over two years ago now, but in 2018 I want to do it as a weekly thing, so I thought it'd be good practice. If you haven't read one of my currently reading posts before, I basically just show you what I'm currently reading and talk about how I'm finding it and how many pages I am through. Carry on reading! Truly Madly Awkward (#2) by Beth Garrod Currently on p170 of 320. I'm really enjoying this, but just haven't had much time to read lately, but now I've finished school for Christmas I'm hoping to finish it by the end of the week. Synopsis: Bella Fisher is back - and is cool, calm and collected as ever. So: NOT EVEN REMOTELY. Her fledgling relationship with Hot Adam seems to have stalled mid-flight (he isn't really speaking to her), her big sister Jo has gone off to university leaving Bella to deal with ditzy Mum on her own, something is up with her best-friend-dynamic with Tegan and Rachel and horror of horrors, horrendous ex-boyfriend Luke has an ACTUAL MODEL as his new girlfriend. Mum opens up a doggy ice cream parlour - Give a Dog a Cone - which Bella is forced to help out at on Saturdays. Yes, dressed up as a dog. For some light relief she enters a radio competition to secure a performance from hot band of the moment The Helicans at her school - but another contestant begins turning into her sabotaging nemesis.
