*I was sent an ebook copy of this book in trade of an honest review. All opinions are my own* I was scrolling through blog tours etc and signing up to a few to help restart my blog up after a few inactive months and when I saw this one I knew I just had to sign up for it! Reading the synopsis had me really intrigued to find out what this book would be like, I wasn't exactly sure on what to expect as I have previously found some fantasy and dystopian books a bit boring after a while, but this one was the complete opposite. Rhodi's Light was full of action from start to finish and each chapter left me wanting more. Writing Style The writing style was one of the things I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with, as with previous books I've read (of the same genres) have had quite long, dragging sentences. However, I fell in love with the writing style! The sentences were the perfect length (for me), but still carried a lot of detail which I loved. Megan's character descriptions were just one of my favourite parts to read! Also, the action scenes were some of the best I've read in a long time, they were so action packed and I found myself sat on the edge of my seat clutching my iPad in my hands with anticipation! I was reading so quickly with anticipation, that I found myself missing words out and having to go back and reread paragraphs. Characters If you guys follow me on twitter (@sprinkleofbooks) you may seen my tweets about the character relationships in this books. UGGHHH! They were some of the best I've ever read! My favourite was Talidan and Dylan by far, right from the start they don't get on, but throughout the book their relationship develops hugely, so much that I was crying at the end of the book (if you've read Rhodi's Light then you'll know why)! I just completely fell in love with these characters and the cuteness and bond between them is just to die for! One character (not going to name incase of spoilers) does suffer with depression and anxiety (especially panic attacks) and the book does feature scenes of self harm, which there is a warning for at the start of the book. They are obviously upsetting, but I'm not sure on what ages they are best for, as I don't want to guess and then end up upsetting people. I am 13 (14 in October) and I did find the scenes sad (which is pretty much a guarantee), but I don't think they affected me too much. I think if you are sensitive to these sort of situations, then I would definitely check out some other reviews to see what they recommend, or you can always ask Megan on Goodreads etc, but just know this sort of thing is in Rhodi's Light. There is quite a few characters I would love to find out more about, that I'm hoping feature in the other two books, Rhodi's Rising (#2) and Rhodi's Lullaby (#3). Pace I found the pace to be basically perfect. The actions scenes as I've already mentioned happen so quickly as if you're the one doing the fighting! I did find near the start that things felt as if they were going a bit too quickly, but I personally think that it did go well with the plot and left more of the book dedicated to a 'newish start' (if you've read the book, you might understand what I mean). Rate Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this book as I completely fell in love with it and I want more people to! I definitely hope to read the sequels and continue on after that huge cliffhanger :O Rate - 5/5 Giveaway: Tour-wide giveaway (INTL)
